How to Install a Fly Screen?
Your custom-made fly screen has arrived! Now it's time to add this modern and practical solution to your space. At Modern Fly Screens, we design all our products according to the "Do It Yourself" (DIY) philosophy. With this guide and our installation videos, you can complete your installation quickly and easily without needing a professional.
Before Starting Assembly
- Tools Needed: Cordless drill (for screw mounting), metal tape measure, pencil, (optional) spirit level.
- Watch the Video: Finding and watching the assembly video specific to the product you purchased on our site will make the process much easier to understand.
- Prepare the Area: Clean the surface of the window or door frame where you will be installing the assembly by wiping it with a clean, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt.
Hinged Fly Screen Installation
The assembly of this classic and robust system consists of a few simple steps:
- Attach the Hinges to the Frame: Screw the hinges that were sent to you into the pre-drilled holes on the corresponding side of the screen frame.
- Position and Mark the Frame: Align the screen precisely with the window or door frame where you will be mounting it. Mark the screw holes for the hinges on the frame with a pencil. You can use a level to ensure it is straight.
- Attaching to the Case: Secure the hinges to the case using a cordless drill at the points you marked.
- Install the Lock and Handle: Screw the pin lock mechanism receiver and the handle to the points where they will meet when the screen door is closed. Your screen door is now ready for safe use!
Pleated and Rail (Sliding) Fly Screen Installation
These models are usually assembled in two different ways: either screwed together or glued together.
A) Screw Mounting:
- Align the Rails: Position the product's upper and lower rail profiles into place.
- Mark and Screw: Mark the casing through the pre-drilled screw holes on the rails. Drill holes where you marked and secure the rails by screwing them in place.
- Install the Fly Screen Box: Attach the vertical profile (box) containing the moving mechanism to the side rail to assemble the system.
- Test it: Make sure your flyscreen is working smoothly by opening and closing it a few times.
B) Adhesive Mounting:
- Remove the Tape Behind the Rails: Remove the protective tape behind the profiles.
- Adhesion: Carefully align the profiles with the casing and press firmly to adhere. It is recommended to wait a few hours for the adhesive to fully cure.
- Assemble and Test the System: Just like with the screw assembly, attach the fly screen box in place and check its operation.
Magnetic Fly Screen Installation (The Easiest Method!)
The Takmatik fly screen, as the name suggests, does not require any tools and can be installed in seconds.
- Install the Frame: Carefully place the custom-made frame into the outer casing of your window.
- Press and Lock: Gently and evenly press the edges of the frame with your palms. The "click" you hear indicates that the special locking mechanism has engaged and your fly screen is securely fastened.
That's it! No matter which model you choose, by following the right steps, you can achieve a professional result.
